Our mission is to provide the Dayton Community with access to performing arts, education, cultural diversity, martial arts, self -defense, drama, drum and dance, and a rites of passage program for young black women. The measurable outcome of our mission is the continued growth and community involvement along with the over all health and well being of the entire community.

Born to John & Garnet McClendon, Renee “Mama Renee” McClendon is a native of Dayton, Ohio where she enjoys working to enrich & uplift the community. She has been the director of McClendon Institute since 1983, which was founded by her late father. Mama Renee stands by her mission to instruct youth & adults in the discipline of martial arts, reading, math, science, drama, drum, dance & the beauty of cultural awareness.
